A Coast Guard officer was shot dead by armed bandits who ambushed and robbed him and his friends early yesterday in Point Fortin.
Dacian John, 36, an able-body seaman with the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard who lived at Loblolly Drive, La Resource Road, D’Abadie, was shot in the neck and shoulder.
He was taken to the Point Fortin Hospital where he died while being treated.
