Alyssa and mother deny riot charges in court

CHARGES of taking part in a riot were among the offences read out on Monday as activist Alyssa Phillip and her mother, Camille Caresquero, appeared before a Siparia magistrate in connection with their arrests during the Labour Day march on June 19.
Phillip pleaded not guilty to charges of taking part in a riot, disorderly behaviour and resisting arrest when she appeared before Senior Magistrate Erica Baptiste-Ramkissoon.
Caresquero also pleaded not guilty to charges of taking part in a riot, obstructing police in the execution of their duties and resisting arrest.
