Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo says the oil prices pegged in the 2026 national budget are “realistic.”
He was responding to media questions at a news conference hosted by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the Parliament’s rotunda following the budget presentation yesterday.
Tancoo said the oil price assumption for 2026 is US$73.25 per barrel, compared with US$77.80 per barrel in 2025, while the natural gas price assumption is US$4.25 per MMBtu, compared with US$3.59 per MMBtu in 2025.
