(Kaieteur News) – The reliability of the evidentiary record in the extradition proceedings involving Leader of the Opposition Azruddin Mohamed and businessman Nazar Mohamed came under scrutiny on Tuesday during a tense cross-examination of Head of the Special Branch, Prem Narine, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Under questioning by Senior Counsel Roysdale Forde, the court heard that several significant operational details, including references to draft warrants, bundles of documents collected from the Attorney General’s Chambers, and the presence of U.S. Marshals, were omitted from Narine’s formal police statement dated 7th November, 2025.
Forde examined Narine’s signed statement line by line, questioning whether he had recorded the presence or involvement of U.S. Marshals or the specific words uttered by Nazar Mohamed during his arrest on 31st October, 2025. Narine conceded: “It is not mentioned here.”
