A 37-year-old man and his 38-year-old wife have been arrested and significant quantities of narcotics seized during an "Intelligence-Led Operation" conducted in the Central Division early Friday.
According to a police report the operation, which took place between 2.15 a.m. and 4.30 a.m., saw officers executing a search warrant at a residence located at Cemetery Street Extension, Caroni Savannah Road, Charlieville. The operation focused on the search for firearms and ammunition, the report stated.
Police said during the search a small white plastic barrel was discovered containing seven packages of compressed cannabis, weighing a total of 3.72 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of TT $400,000. Further investigation led to the discovery of a block of cocaine weighing 515 grammes, with an estimated street value of TT $375,000. The couple were arrested on the scene.
