Police are investigating after a driver fled the scene of a serious crash along the Audrey Jeffers Highway in the early hours of Thursday.
A Toyota Corolla was found heavily damaged on the westbound shoulder near the Foreshore lookout. The driver, described as a 25-year-old Spanish male wearing a dark T-shirt, jeans, and slippers, abandoned the vehicle, leaving the front-seat passenger, Juan Silva, 32, trapped and injured.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to free Silva, who suffered chest injuries affecting his lungs and airways. He was initially treated at St. James Accident & Emergency and later transferred to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
