Just over 50 international journalists, content creators and influencers are in Barbados for the final stretch of Crop Over 2026, as tourism officials intensify efforts to boost the festival’s global reach and drive visitor arrivals.
The initiative forms part of the BTMI’s broader strategy to generate international exposure for Barbados by allowing visiting media and digital creators to experience the island’s culture first-hand before sharing those experiences with audiences around the world in the lead-up to the climax of the Crop Over Festival.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill on Thursday welcomed the media contingent at a Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) Culture Day reception and breakfast at the Harbour Lights nightclub on Bay Street, where he described Crop Over as more than just a festival. The minister said it remained a powerful showcase of Barbadian identity.
