A POLICE officer who was unlawfully detained for four days after fellow officers arrested him during a surveillance exercise has once again succeeded in a lawsuit against the State.
In an oral ruling delivered on March 6, High Court judge Joan Charles found that PC Anand Dass was wrongfully arrested and falsely imprisoned in June 2021 and ordered the State to pay him $160,000 in damages, in addition to interest and legal costs.
The claim was brought against the Office of the Attorney General which represents the State in civil litigation.
