THE Office of the Attorney General has been ordered to pay $154,000 in damages to an Emergency Medical Technician and businessman after the High Court found he was wrongfully arrested, falsely imprisoned and maliciously prosecuted by police officers following an incident outside a Marabella fast food outlet.
The award was made in favour of Darryl Nanton by Justice Westmin James last week during an assessment of damages after liability was admitted by the State through a consent order in December 2024.
The matter arose from an encounter on April 24, 2018, when Nanton, then 56 and employed with Petrotrin, stopped at KFC in Marabella.
