Few know this better than Calvin Bailey, whose 2026 season has been defined not by triumph but by heartbreak that has touched the racing public deeply.
On Thursday, August 6, in the Jamaica Derby aboard Maverick, Bailey delivered what the racing commentator aptly called “the surprise of the party”.
