A young man drowned at Clifton Hill Beach in Point Fortin on Friday after going missing while spending the day at the popular bathing spot with relatives.

According to police, the man was last seen late in the afternoon. When relatives were unable to locate him, they alerted the police and the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.

A diver was deployed to conduct a search, and the man’s body was recovered from the sea at around 6 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
