A man is feared dead after being swept away by strong currents at a beach in Toco infamously known by locals as “Death Beach.” The incident occurred Thursday afternoon when the man reportedly entered the water to retrieve a ball but was quickly pulled into deeper waters. Despite search efforts by emergency responders, he had not been found by nightfall.
Residents say the beach is notorious for sudden drop-offs and powerful undercurrents, and has been the site of several drownings over the years. A warning sign that once cautioned visitors has since been removed.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police are investigating the discovery of a partially decomposed body in a river along Sapphire Drive, Valencia Bypass Road. The unidentified male was found around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, clothed in a t-shirt and underwear, with a sheet partially covering his upper body.
