Final farewell to lupus advocate Shelley Weir

Final respects have been paid to lupus advocate and Hope Foundation founder Shelley Weir, remembered as a pioneering patient champion who transformed the conversation around lupus and other chronic illnesses in Barbados and across the Caribbean.

At the service of celebration and thanksgiving at the Cathedral Church of St Michael and All Angels on Saturday, friend Maxine McClean described Weir as “a complex being” whose advocacy, mentorship and determination reshaped public understanding of autoimmune diseases.
