Guyana on Thursday reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with the United States as the North American nation celebrated the 250th anniversary of its independence.
Speaking at the United States’ 250th Independence Anniversary celebration in Georgetown, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali said the relationship between the two countries has grown stronger over the years and is anchored in shared democratic values, international cooperation and mutual respect.
The United States commemorated 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when representatives of the 13 American colonies declared independence from Great Britain following years of political tensions and armed conflict that culminated in the American Revolutionary War.
