Courtney McNish, industrial relations officer for Adon Construction Ltd, another company contracted by Perenco TT to operate on the platforms in the Teak, Samaan and Poui (TSP) fields said that recent concerns raised by their workers over poor conditions and salaries were tailwinds coming from recent sickout protests by employees of Sookhai Engineering and Rental Services Ltd (SERSL).
McNish said this after employees, in a conversation with Newsday, claimed that they faced similar challenges as Sookhai’s employees which include low pay, no overtime, limited access to PPE and no contracts. Employees said 40 out of the 48 workers employed under Adon plan to engage in their own sickout action, should their requests continue to fall on deaf ears.
Adon provides maintenance and construction services for Perenco on the TSP fields, meaning their employees are wielders, scaffolders, painters and fabricators.
