A pregnant woman, Yamerlis Anais Lopez, was fatally shot in Windy Hill, Arouca, on January 21 after being deliberately targeted by two armed men.
Around 12:45 p.m., officers arrived at a garden off Arima Old Road, where Lopez had been found injured inside a galvanised roofing sheet shed. According to witnesses, two men in unkempt clothing with faces covered entered the garden and fired multiple shots at her. She was transported to Arima Hospital.
The attending doctor attempted to save both Lopez and her unborn child, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m.
