Kamla Persad-Bissessar Pledges Safer Communities at Divali Celebration in Penal

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar marked 31 years as MP for Siparia at a Divali celebration in Penal, where she pledged to improve water supply, healthcare, roads and youth opportunities. She also reflected on her upbringing in the community, honoured local achievers, and thanked her husband Gregory Bissessar as he recovers from injuries after a car accident.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar used a Divali celebration in Siparia to pledge tougher action against crime, corruption and neglect, saying her Government must deliver safer communities, reliable services and better opportunities for families. She also honoured citizens and students for community service and achievement, while thanking supporters for decades of backing.
