ICE Officers Shoot Dominican Man During Immigration Arrest Operation in Bronx

Caribbean immigrant advocates condemned an ICE shooting in the Bronx’s Marble Hill neighbourhood, saying federal agents must face an immediate investigation and possible accountability. New York officials said the man was taken to hospital, and reports said a five-year-old child was in the vehicle when agents opened fire. The incident has intensified criticism of ICE’s enforcement tactics in New York and beyond.

US Homeland Security chief Markwayne Mullin clashed with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani after ICE agents shot and wounded a Dominican man in the Bronx, saying the mayor’s call to remove federal agents was “dangerous.” ICE said Oscar Belgal, who had a criminal history, tried to flee and rammed government vehicles; a child in his car was unharmed. The dispute adds to tensions over immigration enforcement in New York, where police do not assist federal raids.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he will ask President Donald Trump to remove ICE agents from the city after a man was shot during an immigration operation in the Bronx. The incident, which happened with a five-year-old child in the car, has triggered protests and renewed calls for a full investigation and transparency.
