
Immigrant groups sue over new US public charge rule
New York immigrant advocacy groups have sued the Trump administration over a new rule that broadens which public benefits immigration officers can weigh when deciding some green card applications. The groups say it violates federal law and could discourage immigrant families — including in Caribbean and other communities — from using benefits such as food aid, housing help and health coverage.
