VetÂerÂan trade unionÂist CeÂcil Paul, a forÂmer First Vice PresÂiÂdent of the OilÂfields WorkÂers’ Trade Union (OWÂTU), died on TuesÂday folÂlowÂing a short illÂness.
Paul, who was alÂso a forÂmer GenÂerÂal SecÂreÂtary of the CounÂcil of ProÂgresÂsive Trade Unions and comÂmitÂtee memÂber of the NaÂtionÂal WorkÂers Union, was a promiÂnent figÂure in the trade union moveÂment for sevÂerÂal decades.
He played a key role in efÂforts to unite the counÂtry’s trade unions unÂder the NaÂtionÂal Trade Union CenÂtre (NATUC), beÂcomÂing its first Deputy GenÂerÂal SecÂreÂtary.
