LARRY HOWAI has been appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago for a five-year term—the maximum allowed under current legislation.
Howai was appointed on Tuesday by President Christine Kangaloo for a term of five years, the Central Bank stated yesterday.
The Central Bank Act was amended in 2020 to revise the Governor’s term from a fixed five years to a range of three to five years, just as then-governor Dr Alvin Hilaire’s initial five-year term was coming to an end.
