As the Christmas season approaches, many MPs are reporting that their constituents are requesting assistance in the form of food hampers and food cards.
Newsday messaged MPs throughout Trinidad on December 17 to find out what they had been experiencing in terms of requests. Some said they have been and would continue to distribute hampers, while others would be distributing hampers in the coming days.
Opposition Leader and Arima MP Pennelope Beckles said the volume of requests for support this year has been overwhelming.
