KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Universal Service Fund (USF) has announced a $10.6 million investment in support of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) independence celebrations 2026, which will run from August 1 to August 6, 2026, culminating in the highly anticipated Grand Gala.
The USF’s investment includes $1.35 million for a virtual reality (VR) experience, $8 million for technical internet support, and $1.25 million for consumer engagement activities delivered across the six-day celebration. This strategic contribution will help ensure that Jamaicans and visitors enjoy a seamless, interactive and digitally enhanced Independence experience throughout the celebrations.
These investments will provide patrons with immersive and engaging experiences, exciting giveaways and a robust internet infrastructure designed to support the extensive digital demands of the celebrations.
