Independent Living Skills Camp equips visually impaired children with practical life skills

Twenty-four children who are blind and visually impaired have been equipped with practical life skills through the 2026 Independent Living Skills Camp, hosted by the Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities (GCOPD) in partnership with the Education Ministry.

The three-day camp, held from July 22 to 24, was organised through the Ministry’s Office of the Assistant Chief Education Officer (ACEO) for Special Education Needs (SEN)/Disability. It was supported by the United Women for Special Children and ExxonMobil Guyana.

Participants from Regions Three and Four were selected by their respective Special Education Needs Officers in collaboration with their teachers.
