With happiness proving elusive for many, Jehovah’s Witnesses are inviting Guyanese to explore the path to lasting joy through their upcoming three-day global convention, themed “Eternal Happiness.” The convention will return to the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown this year, offering a free three-day programme focused on how everlasting happiness can be achieved through spirituality founded on practical Bible principles. “Who doesn’t want to be happy?” said Andre Darrell, local spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “This year’s convention theme discusses how to be happy and how to remain happy. All in attendance will discover the real joy that comes from a solid hope for the future.” The event is expected to attract more than 4,000 attendees to Georgetown over two weekends, with the first convention scheduled for August 14 to 16, 2026, followed by another from September 18 to 20, 2026. The programme will feature Bible-based videos, interviews and presentations addressing a range of issues related to happiness and personal well-being, including whether abundant happiness is realistic, how people can cope with anxiety and whether they have discovered the true source of happiness. Also anticipated is the debut of Episodes Four, Five and Six of The Good News According to Jesus, which will be released on consecutive days during the convention. The 18-episode video series depict the life and Ministry of Jesus Christ and is based on the Gospel accounts. Episodes 1 was released during the 2024 conventions, while Episodes 2 and 3 were released in 2025. The Saturday programme will also include a baptism. The Georgetown events form part of a wider international convention series, with the same programme being presented at 19 international conventions throughout the year in countries including Portugal, South Africa and Thailand. Last year, Jehovah’s Witnesses hosted more than 6,000 conventions in over 500 languages, under the theme “Pure Worship.” The events included 19 international conventions in 13 countries and attracted more than 12 million attendees worldwide.
