Baby in box: Mom charged

THE woman who reported that a baby girl was left abandoned in a box last month in South Oropouche is expected to face the court charged with two offences.

The 23-year-old who is related to the child, was yesterday expected to be charged with wasteful employment of police time after allegedly making a false report, and cruelty towards a child.

Back on August 20, the woman went to the Oropouche Police Station with the child wrapped in a blanket, and told officers that she found the baby inside a black plastic bag in a cardboard box.
