A St Catherine man allegedly thought his ammunition was safely tucked away inside a pair of Nike sneakers, but a surprise police raid reportedly uncovered the hidden stash, landing him in custody.

The 32-year-old, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigations, was arrested on suspicion of breaching the Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act following the alleged seizure of four rounds of 9mm ammunition.

According to reports, about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, a team of officers from the Guanaboa Vale Police Station carried out a snap raid at a premises in Penny Piece district, Kitson Town, St Catherine.
