The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has stated that former prime minister Dr Keith Rowley is not listed on any Interpol watch list or subject to any alerts, notices or warrants within the organisation’s secure databases.
The TTPS statement follows a claim by Rowley at a news conference at his Glencoe home yesterday that he was flagged by Interpol during recent travel. He further suggested that the incident was not an error, but a deliberate effort to damage his reputation internationally, calling on national authorities, including the Commissioner of Police, for clarification.
In response, the TTPS reported that its Interpol Bureau conducted a review of its internal systems and databases. According to the TTPS, “Comprehensive checks were conducted across Interpol’s secure databases which yielded a definitive result: Dr Rowley is not listed on any Interpol watch list or international notice. No alerts, flags or warrants are associated with his name in Interpol’s systems. Moreover, the TTPS confirms that it has not submitted, nor caused to be submitted, any information to Interpol that would justify such a listing. The TTPS also stated that it has not submitted, nor caused to be submitted, any information to Interpol that would justify such a listing. The agency confirmed that there is no record, directive, or procedural action originating from any department within the TTPS that would support claims of local involvement in the alleged incident.
