As tensions escalate between Venezuela, the United States and Trinidad and Tobago, over what the US describes as taking action against narco-trafficking and South American drug cartels, Defence Minister Wayne Sturge says the twin-island republic remains neutral and at peace.
“We are not at war with anyone,” Sturge said in an interview with TV6 News yesterday. “We are mindful of the rhetoric coming from certain ministers in Venezuela, but we are not at war with anyone. So we have no real need to be concerned.”
He acknowledged, however, that any military confrontation between Washington and Caracas could have regional consequences.
