(Kaieteur News) – Sometimes nothing is wrong with your life until you see somebody else’s. You were perfectly comfortable with your little car until somebody you went to school with pulled up in something newer. You were proud of your job until you heard what somebody else was earning. Your apartment felt fine until a friend posted the keys to a new house. You were enjoying being single until three people you grew up with got married in the same year. Suddenly, a life that was perfectly acceptable yesterday begins feeling inadequate today.
Nobody took anything from you. Nothing actually changed. Except your reference point. And somewhere between scrolling through photographs, hearing family updates, attending another wedding, and answering another auntie who wants to know, “So when is your turn?”, a dangerous thought begins creeping in:“Everybody moving ahead except me.”
