Arson attempt damages Konawaruk Bridge, heavy-duty traffic halted

Police are investigating an alleged arson attempt at the Konawaruk wooden bridge, a major access route to and from Mahdia in Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), after sections of the structure were discovered on fire on Monday.
Initial investigations indicate that unknown individuals reportedly set fire to the bridge, damaging portions of the wooden structure.
The fire was reportedly discovered by public-spirited citizens travelling along the trail, who managed to extinguish the flames.
