The largest and most advanced aircraft carrier in the world, the USS Gerald R. Ford has now arrived in the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) area of responsibility, closing a weeks long journey across the Atlantic ocean amid the US’ military buildup and ongoing boat strikes in Caribbean waters.
The Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group, led by the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), arrived this morning according to the US Navy, on the direction of US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as part of what the US claims is an effort to dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations and counter narco-terrorism.
It comes as the US has carried out at least 19 lethal boat strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific over the past two months, killing at least 75 alleged narco-terrorists on board these small vessels.
