Min­is­ter of Labour, Small and Mi­cro En­ter­prise De­vel­op­ment, Sen­a­tor Leroy Bap­tiste has pledged to re­build the tri­par­tite frame­work he once fa­mous­ly walked away from as a union leader.

He made the com­mit­ment yes­ter­day morn­ing while de­liv­er­ing his first ma­jor pol­i­cy ad­dress at the 113th Ses­sion of the In­ter­na­tion­al Labour Con­fer­ence in Gene­va, Switzer­land.

The an­nounce­ment car­ries par­tic­u­lar weight, giv­en Bap­tiste’s his­to­ry as for­mer pres­i­dent of the Pub­lic Ser­vices As­so­ci­a­tion (PSA), where he led a dra­mat­ic with­draw­al from the gov­ern­ment tri­par­tite com­mit­tee along­side oth­er labour lead­ers in protest of what they called in­suf­fi­cient union in­put.
