journalist, Kelly Ann Lemessy, was shot and killed Thursday while in her car in the front yard of her rented home in Lazzari Village, Poole, Rio Claro.
Police reported that Lemessy, 37, was seated in the driver’s seat of her Mazda Axela with the engine running when two masked men ran into the yard and opened fire. At the time, she was holding her 23-month-old daughter on her lap, while her nine-year-old daughter sat in the front passenger seat. Both children survived the incident without physical injury. The toddler was later taken by her father.
Responding officers arrived shortly after receiving a report around 12:22 p.m., finding Lemessy slumped over the steering wheel with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Three bullet holes were visible on the upper left side of the front windshield, and one was in the driver-side door glass.
