The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) intercepted and detained six foreign nationals attempting to enter the country illegally on Tuesday night.
Police in a media release Thursday stated that acting on intelligence received from the National Radar Center, a TTCG team from the Cedros Base including Petty Officer Seecharan, Able Seaman King, and Lead Electrician Adams intercepted a suspicious vessel (pirogue) off the coast of Icacos around 10 p.m. The vessel, which was heading towards Trinidad’s south-western shores, was found to be carrying six Venezuelan nationals.
"The individuals were promptly handed over to the Cedros Police Station, where PC Valdez and his team initiated immediate investigations into the matter. Their quick response and professionalism ensured the individuals were processed in accordance with the laws of Trinidad and Tobago," the release stated.
