A 67-year-old woman from Diego MarÂtin has been acÂquitÂted of stabÂbing a 17-year-old schoolÂgirl in her eye with a penÂcil afÂter inÂterÂvenÂing in a fight beÂtween the alÂleged vicÂtim and her daughÂter alÂmost 15 years ago.
It took a nine-memÂber juÂry beÂfore JusÂtice HayÂden St Clair-DouÂglas at the Hall of JusÂtice in Port-of-Spain less than half an hour to reÂturn with a unanÂiÂmous not guilty verÂdict for Mary FarÂrell.
FarÂrell was acÂcused of causÂing grievÂous bodÂiÂly harm to Mayleen Sharpe durÂing an inÂciÂdent at the Diego MarÂtin North SecÂondary School in OcÂtoÂber 2011.
