The Guyana Police Force (GPF) continues to strengthen road safety awareness and institutional capacity through targeted education initiatives, with the Traffic Education Section of Regional Division Four B conducting a road safety training session for members of the Regional Division Four B Road Safety Council.

The session, held on Friday, saw four members of the Road Safety Council participate in discussions aimed at enhancing their knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic safety. Participants received presentations on a range of critical topics, including the principles of defensive driving, careless and dangerous driving, speeding and its consequences, the importance of wearing seat belts, maintaining safe following distances, safe overtaking practices, the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, driver distractions such as mobile phone use while driving, routine vehicle safety inspections and the importance of courtesy and consideration for other road users.

The Traffic Education Section encouraged participants to become ambassadors for road safety by sharing the knowledge gained with their families, friends, colleagues and communities. The initiative forms part of the GPF’s ongoing efforts to raise public awareness, build institutional capacity, promote responsible road use, and reduce traffic violations and road collisions. The training concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants expressed their appreciation for the informative presentation and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting safer roads within their respective communities.
