A MAN allegedly caught attempting to smuggle a stove into the Port of Spain Prison was granted $50,000 bail when he appeared in court on Friday.
Police identified the accused as Joshua Thongs, 26 of Duncan Street, Port of Spain.
Police said that around 8.15 a.m. on February 24, officers from the Port of Spain Division Task Force were on mobile patrol in uptown Port of Spain when they received a report about two men seen throwing bags over the northern wall of the prison. When officers arrived at the corner of Pembroke and Gordon Streets, Port of Spain they met prison officers who had already caught and secured the two suspects.
