There were mixed reÂacÂtions in the conÂstituenÂcy to forÂmer seÂnior suÂperÂinÂtenÂdent Roger AlexanÂder beÂing choÂsen as the UnitÂed NaÂtionÂal ConÂgress; (UNC) canÂdiÂdate for TuÂnaÂpuna in the upÂcomÂing GenÂerÂal ElecÂtion.
While the anÂnounceÂment by OpÂpoÂsiÂtion Leader KamÂla PerÂsad BissesÂsar on SatÂurÂday night apÂpeared to come as a shock to some, othÂers said they were not surÂprised and enÂdorsed the seÂlecÂtion.
AlexanÂder will be hopÂing to unÂseat inÂcumÂbent PeoÂple’s NaÂtionÂal MoveÂment (PNM) canÂdiÂdate EsÂmond Forde. ComÂmentÂing on AlexanÂder’s seÂlecÂtion by the UNC, roadÂside venÂdor SeerÂam JorÂdan said, “I have no probÂlem with that.”
