A GROUP of relatives and close associates who say they lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in a failed investment venture promoted by social media personality Israel Mark have secured a default judgment against him in the High Court.

The ruling, granted late last month, came after Mark did not file a defence to a claim brought by Kavita Ragoonanan, Kumar Seegulam, Asha Seegulam, Vitra Maraj, Satesh Maharaj and Savitra Maharaj. The group sued over funds paid into what they alleged was an investment scheme marketed in 2023 and 2024.

While liability has now been established, the court has deferred the question of how much compensation Mark must pay.
