KINGSTON, Jamaica—The University of the West Indies (The UWI) says it has received an alert regarding a potential cybersecurity issue involving ransomware claims.
The university in a press release on Wednesday, said at this time, there is no confirmed evidence of a breach of its information technology (IT) environment, systems, or any leaked university information.
“As a precaution, we are treating this matter with utmost seriousness. Our incident response plan is active, and we are working with cybersecurity experts and regional authorities. Technical teams across the university are investigating, reviewing systems, checking for indicators of compromise, and confirming our readiness,” The UWI said.
