The sleeping giants have finally awakened. In a blistering display of power-hitting under the Sabina Park lights, the Jamaica Kingsmen registered their first victory of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League season, dismantling the defending champions, the Trinbago Knight Riders, by five wickets.

If the Kingsmen’s season was looking for a spark, they found it in the form of young Jamaican batsman Kirk McKenzie.

Promoted to the top of the order just hours before the toss, McKenzie delivered a career-defining innings, smashing a breathtaking 69 off just 25 balls.
