Former prime minister Stuart Young has accused Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of hypocrisy for criticising the People’s National Movement (PNM) Opposition’s decision to vote against budget 2027, arguing that the United National Congress (UNC) had refused to support any PNM budget while in opposition between 2015 and 2024.
In a statement posted to his Facebook account yesterday, Young described the budget as “dishonest and unbalanced” and accused the Government of contributing to the country’s economic decline.
His comments followed Persad-Bissessar’s defence of the budget and her criticism of the Opposition’s position after the bill was passed in the House of Representatives on Saturday.
