The 2026/2027 budget was passed in the House of Representatives yesterday without the support of the parliamentary opposition, which argued that the spending plan failed to address job losses, rising living costs and the country’s economic challenges.
The budget debate is scheduled to begin in the Senate tomorrow at 10 a.m.
In a statement following the vote, the Opposition said the budget offered no credible roadmap to economic recovery and would impose further hardship on the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
