Of the 137 people killed in 123 fatal traffic crashes in Jamaica since the start of the year, 56 or 40 per cent were drivers of private motor vehicles and their passengers.
According to the latest daily crash statistics released on June 26 by the Island Traffic Authority (ITA), both fatalities and fatal crashes are down 24 per cent when compared with the similar period in 2025.
Motorcyclists have so far accounted for 35 or 26 per cent of the fatalities since the start of the year while pedestrians accounted for 33 deaths or 24 per cent.
