THE devices set up by The University of the West Indies (UWI) on the Piparo Mud Volcano to monitor its activity have found that the system is evolving.
As a result of that, Piparo villagers were called to a meeting by a team from The UWI St Augustine, Geoscience Programme, Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, on May 24, where they were made aware of the findings.
The team was led by the researchers Prof Oshaine Blake and PhD Geoscience candidate Kerneese Ramjarrie. Speaking to the Express via telephone on Wednesday, Ramjarrie, 24, said the preliminary data has indicated increased activity.
