(Kaieteur News) – A Cuban man is dead and two of his countrymen are critically injured following a workplace accident on Tuesday in which a scaffold they were working on rolled into a live Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) wire at Plantation Houston, East Bank Demerara.
The three men, all construction workers, were reportedly carrying out work on a building for Toucan’d Distributors Limited when the scaffold came into contact with GPL’s 13.8-kilovolt (kV) primary distribution lines.
It remains unclear whether the men were employed directly by the distributing company or by a construction contractor.
