VENEZUELAN migrants who fled to Trinidad during the last few years in search of jobs and a decent life may have thought the United States military action that deposed their president had changed everything and would allow a return to their motherland.
But five days later, Venezuelans living in Trinidad and Tobago are watching with caution as the political situation within a destabilised Venezuela continues to evolve following the ousting of President Nicolas Maduro by US forces last Saturday.
Activist Angie Ramnarine told the Express yesterday the uncertainty of the situation had stirred anxiety among those who fled their homes at the peak of the economic crisis in 2019, fearing political persecution and economic turmoil.
