The distribution of hundreds of seedlings to schools across the St. Augustine constituency marked a nurturing step toward self-sufficiency, as Member of Parliament Khadijah Ameen encouraged students to grow their own food.
She noted that the seedlings, which were distributed in time for the Corpus Christi holiday on Thursday, were provided through the Ministry of Agriculture.
“This allowed us to go into schools and give free seedlings to students. We went to one of the schools; they have their own grow box and we planted seeds this morning, as well as to provide seedlings for giveaways to the constituents. So my office is located on Pasea Main Road, which is quite busy, and a lot of students who are coming from school, their parents are passing in with them, and they are collecting plants, and I hope that they will plant them on Thursday.”
