The Prison Service is mourning the loss of 48-year-old officer Steve Dookie, who died suddenly while on duty at the Golden Grove Prison on Wednesday.

Dookie, of Cumuto Road, Cumuto, was reportedly speaking with personnel in the prison dormitory area when he collapsed. Paramedics were immediately called, and he was taken to Arima Hospital, but despite medical intervention, he later passed away.

A post-mortem is expected to determine the exact cause of death, though authorities have said foul play is not suspected.
